#LagosLearnsTogether

The Lagos State Government is united in supporting families, educators, and schools during and post COVID-19.

These are hard times - and we are in this together.

  • Parents are learning to handle work and home learning.

  • Teachers are figuring out new ways to support students.

  • Schools are striving to create new learning models.

We have a responsibility to our community and access to learning must continue.

This is why we have partnered with leading national and global educators, researchers, institutions, and companies to ensure we can provide you with the support you need during and post COVID-19 crisis.

This platform is for you. The parents, teachers, school leaders, and the students who want support. The resources are free-of-charge - and meet the needs of Nigerian students, educators, and families. We have included apps, websites, webinars, and services that are free of charge for distance learning, preparing for the new academic year, and upon return to school.

We will keep adding to this site on a regular basis, so keep coming back for more and do let us know what you need. We will do our best to find it.

From Abiola S. Ayeni, Director General OEQA

We, Lagosians, are known for our grit and resilience and we will do everything we can to give our children the best opportunities.

This website intends to be your partner as we travel the uncharted waters of distance with blended learning together. This site contains the best free learning resources, and yes, a little humor because laughter is the best medicine in these times.

Let me tell you the story of this website. In February, a friend and education consultant was visiting from Dubai. She was already helping schools figure what to do if COVID-19 came their way and had to close. While we chatted over salads in my office, she asked, “What are you going to do if schools close in Lagos?”

My first thought was,

Why, no? Because we need school!

I’m not ready to teach my children this:

So, I spent a few sleepless nights trying to convince myself that closing schools weren’t going to have to happen here. After all, we only had one case by the end of February.

However, as I watched schools close around the world, I began to think about what we could do to keep the learning going here in Lagos. My colleagues and I decided that anything we did, had to enable schools to come back stronger than ever.

What if we could find the best educational and cultural resources and make them available to everyone?

What if we could offer free professional development to teachers and school leaders on new models of teaching-learning?

What if we could bring the best teachers in Lagos and around the world into your living rooms?

Schools create community and opportunities. This website intends to do the same during this extraordinary time.

Stay tuned for updates, challenges, and live distance events.

Stay safe, and be assured that we will be with you every step of the way
